Mission Statement:
To raise awareness of proper etiquette and traditional conventions of the Urban Ballroom culture while fostering positive community and family relationships in a fun, friendly, and healthy environment.
Goals
- To actively pursue the preservation of Urban Ballroom Dancing through education, community and private events.
- To actively pursue the involvement and training of “The Next Generationers” (TNGs), in the art of ballroom dancing and etiquette.
- To build meaningful mentoring relationships that provides social, emotional, and academic support to the next generation of scholars.
- To build leadership skills in the next generation of scholars.
- To create fundraising opportunities that will provide financial support for current and future scholars.
Roy Harlan Dennis, was the Founder and President of the Pasadena Urban Ballroom Conservatory, a non-profit organization, was a graduate of the Urban Philanthropy Institute in Upland, California. As a distinguished Co-Founder, Vice President, and member of the Urban Ballroom Gents, Roy was a dance instructor for over 13 years. As a former third Vice President of the American Legion Jackie Robinson Post #252 and sat on the Inland Valley News advisory board as a member of the planning committee for their annual Celebration of Excellence Gala Awards and Scholarship Dinner. Roy’s desire was to promote social grace, etiquette, and harmony in the community through preserving the art and history of urban ballroom dancing. He previously resided in the Los Angeles area and taught urban ballroom dancing to youth and adults in the Altadena/Pasadena areas.

TOMARSHA NEAL, Chief Executive Officer of Pasadena Urban Ballroom Conservatory. Tomarsha has accepted the responsibility given to her by the founder Mr. Roy Harlan Dennis, of Urban Ballroom Conservatory. She plans to fulfill Mr. Roy’s dreams for the conservatory with the help of the community, friends and donation partners.
Tomarsha has been an urban ballroom dance choreographer for over 8 years. She was on the board at Alkebu-Lan Cultural Center located in Pasadena, CA as a community parent and senior activities director. She is an alumni of John Muir High School and participates in the JMHSAA. Tomarsha also desires to promote social grace, etiquette, healthy living, financial literacy and harmony in the community through preserving the art and history of urban ballroom dancing. She currently resides in the San Gabriel Valley area and teaches urban ballroom dancing and dance cross training to youth and adults in the Altadena/Pasadena areas.
